Nestled in picturesque Lorton, VA, this River View at Occoquan Wedding was a rainy day wedding for the books. Stella and Josh picked the perfect space for their summer celebration wedding day. With family coming from all over and even some all the way from Korea. Full of heartfelt love, Korean wedding traditions, and special moments with family who were all in the same place for the first time, this wedding was truly beautiful.
Read on to see the most encouraging first look with the bridesmaids and epic dance skills from this crew at the wedding reception!
If you needed more than these stunning photos to urge you to select this wedding venue for your Lorton, Virginia wedding this venue’s modern design features classic touches and stunning panoramic views of the Occoquan River. The River View at Occoquan has expansive windows all around and high ceilings that invite the most unforgettable natural light. To make it even better with versatile indoor and outdoor spaces accommodating up to 350 guests, including a grand ballroom, intimate terrace, and lush gardens which is tough to find for couples looking for the best place to host a large scale wedding.
Additionally, you are not too far from exciting weekend activities in Washington, DC or a relaxing day strolling around historic Occoquan. This beautiful town is known for its historic charm and picturesque streets which means your guests can enjoy exploring the quaint shops, cafes, and scenic views along the Occoquan River during their stay.
This day was about all things baby blue, it was the driving descriptor of this entire wedding day and for good reason. The dresses and florals, paired with the elegant grey tuxes for the most stunning summer wedding design. This wedding day was also full of intentional details and family focused moments. Stella and Josh decided to forgo a day of wedding ceremony and hosted a traditional Korean ceremony previous to the wedding day.
They made this decision to focus more on time with their friends and family, which allowed them to have a slower morning hanging out in the bridal suite. They did each others hair and makeup which brought on many moments of laughter. Stella and Josh still got to experience a beautiful first look, take photos with their bridal party, and then host their family for dinner and dancing.
As a wedding photographer I do not often see couples choosing not to host a ceremony, but after this day and seeing the joy this couple experienced without the stress of a timed ceremony, I think for many couples this could be a great idea moving forward!
Some couples are truly just made to be in front of the camera, so for Stella and Josh taking photos like they would be featured on the cover of Vogue was no issue. You would never even guess that just to the right of us there were some of the biggest strikes of lighting I witnessed all summer.
Maybe it was the most stunning dress with laced ribbing chosen by Stella or the dreamy cathedral veil but these bride and groom portraits were unforgettable. We were even joined by a flock of ducks as the perfect addition to their riverside portraits. The best part was we were able to get all of this variety in less than 10 minutes as we were out running the storm!
While the majority of this wedding day was full of classy, elegant, and dainty details this crew knew exactly how to throw a party. They waited no time to clean up the food, cut the cake, and show off their insane dance moves. They had gorgeous personal cocktails at the bar and that meant the dance floor stayed moving all night long.
